Hatchlands Family Day
Over 70 people gathered at Hatchlands National Trust Park for the first BRIGHT Family Fun Day. The weather was perfect and the course was marked by the highly efficient staff at Hatchlands. As people returned from their walk they were able to purchase various goodies and then the children were entertained by a traditional Punch and Judy show. A special thanks to the Day family, who raised nearly £1,000 in memory of their late Husband and Father - Jimmy Day. All together, the event raised £2,000 so a big 'Thank You' to all those who attended.

Cycling marathon
In August, Austin Reynolds and his friends cycled from John O'Groats to Lands End in aid of BRIGHT.

Annual Golf Day
Foxhills Country Club was the venue for the second BRIGHT charity golf day. Over 60 players battled the challenging 18 hole course and were pleased to be served an 'al fresco' deli at the half-way point. At the end of a long and exhausting round the players (and their guests) enjoyed a delicious evening meal. This ended with prize giving and an excellent raffle and auction. Both Dr. Sharadah Essapen and Dr. Gary Middleton attended the evening and talked about the ongoing local research work being carried out on targetted treatments for patients. The day was voted a great success by all and over £7,000 was raised for BRIGHT.

Berlin Marathon
In February, I decided to enter my first marathon (in Berlin) with my friends. Dad was a big motivation for me entering, as he had been a keen runner and completed the London marathon many times. Sadly he died of gastrointestinal cancer 2 years ago, shortly before his 60th birthday. The last 2 miles were the worst, but as we entered the final straight to the Brandenburg gate the pain seemed to ease - we had completed the challenge and raised money to help BRIGHT!

School Fair
Max Middleton attended the St Teresa's school fair on Sunday 21st November and presented the BRIGHT charity with a Jar filled with coins he has been collecting over the past months. BRIGHT had a stand at the Fair selling candles, to promote the vital research which is currently in progress at the St Luke's Cancer Centre, Guildford.
BRIGHT Bridge Night
St John the Evangelist Communtiy Centre ( Merrow), was the venue for the first Bridge Night in support of the BRIGHT Charity. The evening proved to be a great success as over 50 players got together and enjoyed a fun filled evening which included great prizes, a meal and glass of wine. The evening raised over £1,000 for BRIGHT.
BRIGHT would like to thank all those who attended the evening and a special 'Thank You' goes to Higgedy Piggedy Pies, Dobbes Garden Centre and The Vineries Garden Centre in Bookham who made very generous donations towards the evening.

Cycle Ride
An event organised for BRIGHT through JustGiving
"Thank you to everyone that took part in the cycle ride in memory of my Dad, hopefully we can do it again next year". Donations amounting to £460 raised by Caroline Paradise.
Golf Day
The day could not have been more perfect as 45 players met at the Betchworth Golf Club, to play 18 holes of Golf in glorious sunshine at the fantastic Harry Colt Course. The excellent Chef’s at Betchworth prepared a beautiful evening meal.
Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell who lives locally, entertained everyone with his first class humour, whilst taking charge of the Auction and Raffle. The day raised over £3,500 for the BRIGHT Charity.

School fair
St Teresa's School Christmas Fair, Effingham, Surrey, was held on Sunday 22nd November 2009. The Fair was a success from start to finish. There was a wonderful festive atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be having such a good time. The BRIGHT cake and curd stand raised £170 for the charity - Thank you to all of you who supported us and visited us on the day.

Support for our research work
Here is David Tuttlebee presenting Dr. Sharadah Essapen with a cheque for £3,000 from Windsurfing 4 Cancer Research. This is a Charity that David has set up to promote cancer awareness among fellow windsurfers and, through specific projects, raise funds for cancer research, education and support. We are very grateful to David for all his efforts.
Wine tasting event
.........I am delighted to inform you that the Wine & Cheese Evening hosted by Ranmore Wines in conjunction with Norbury Blue Cheese raised £455 for the BRIGHT charity.
I think you will all agree the evening was very enjoyable, as well as informative. Feedback has been very positive and I suggest we try this type of event on either a quarterly or 6 monthly basis.
The evening raised awareness, with 100% profit going towards BRIGHT....FANTASTIC!
Thank you all once again , Gerry
